Health Considerations

Siamese cats are predisposed to several hereditary conditions: progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) leading to blindness, amyloidosis affecting the liver, asthma and bronchial disease, and crossed eyes (strabismus) which is cosmetic in modern lines but still appears occasionally. Dental disease is also common — regular tooth brushing and veterinary dental cleanings are non-negotiable.

A Siamese cat is ideal if you: work from home or are retired and can provide near-constant companionship, enjoy a vocal and interactive pet, can provide another cat companion, and are prepared for 15-20 years of commitment.
